Color combination rules
- A publication should use a maximum of three colors from the palette, with Navy or white always occupying the majority of the area.
- Red is for accents only; do not use it as a background for large blocks.
- Yellow should only be placed on Navy or dark backgrounds; it is nearly unreadable on white backgrounds.
- Do not apply transparency to brand colors when used as text backgrounds.
- Text on Navy, Red, or Blue backgrounds must be white; text on Yellow backgrounds must be Navy.
Contrast and readability
Text sizes 16px and below placed on colored backgrounds must be checked to ensure a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1. White text on Yellow does not meet this requirement and should not be used.
